Sylius eCommerce Framework - Something for Every Developer

Description

eCommerce has changed. Existing technology is not suitable for the crazy ideas of start-up market and even big companies are struggling with current solutions, which cannot be adapted to their unique needs. Tailored eCommerce experience is something that everyone needs, but monolithic applications cannot provide us with the required level of flexibility. Sylius solves this problem. Project is completely free and released under the very permissive MIT license. It is community-driven project and there is no enterprise version. In this talk I introduce core concepts behind the project, show code examples and encourage everyone to try it out and contribute. While Sylius app is based on Symfony, components are plain-PHP libraries and can be used with any framework. In Sylius, there is something for everyone, even if you are not a Symfony developer and not working on a strictly eCommerce website. Thanks to Sylius openness, it is also a great learning example for developers. I think it is safe to say it is the biggest Open Source Symfony application and also the richest reference for usage of Behat and phpSpec.

Conférence donnée lors du Forum PHP 2016, ayant eu lieu les 27 et 28 octobre 2016.

Born in November 1992, I have built my first website at the age of 12. While in high school, I have worked for my first customers and created initial bits of code, which ultimately became an Open Source project. Few years into the future, Sylius is one of the most promising eCommerce platforms in the world of PHP, with over 320 code contributors. Our packages have been downloaded over 2,000,000 times. These days I am busy leading the project towards stable release and managing a commercial, company Lakion that emerged from Sylius’ popularity in 2014. We support the community and provide training, consultation and development for brands & start-ups who want to power their business with Sylius technology. I am also involved in my local PHP community, as co-organizer of PHPers, which is all about free and open meetups for developers in most of big cities in Poland. We are aiming to change the perception of PHP as a language and bring more people to the community by sharing knowledge and socializing. I am responsible for organizing PHPers events in my hometown - ?ód?. I had the great opportunity to talk about Sylius and share my experience at various events, including international IT conferences in London, Oslo, Madrid, Antwerp, Stockholm, Verona, Belgrade, Kiev, Rovinj, Hamburg, Barcelona, Berlin, Antwerp, Warsaw and more… Full list available at http://pjedrzejewski.com/#talks.

Nice introduction to Sylius and ecommerce ecosystem. Slides were very well designed and related to your talk, extra point for that :) Overall speakers skills are also on high level. One only thing I would see is live demo at the end of the talk.
